You've launched a marketplace, city or market from zero. Now build one that helps families pay for education.
An early-stage fintech in San Francisco helps families spend public education funding through a payment card. Parents can use their funds right away, and the programs behind them get AI-driven fraud checks. It's live, growing very fast and expanding to more states, and it has just closed its Series A. The card opens the door; the marketplace is where the business is built. You'll own it from zero.
What you'll own
- The cold start: signing the first vendors, from small local education providers to national retailers
- Deep vendor relationships, and the commission structure that builds the revenue line
- In-app merchandising, so parents find and buy what they need
- Experiments you design yourself, and acting on what the numbers say
Must-haves
- A proven 0-to-1 track record with hard numbers, in marketplace economics, supply or vendor strategy, or running a P&L. Marketing, events, outbound or consulting experience on its own isn't enough.
- You run experiments on your own initiative, not just projects assigned by a manager
- You prefer a handful of strong vendor relationships over many thin ones
- A real, personal pull toward the education mission
- Based in the San Francisco office, 9-9-5, and comfortable with regular travel
Bonus points
- Former founder, especially of a consumer product
- City launch or GM experience at a ride-hailing, delivery or local marketplace company
- Early operator at an education or local marketplace
What's in it for you
- $130k–$180k base + 0.2–0.4% equity
- A flat, in-person team of mostly ex-founders, with a long-term mission in education
- Visa sponsorship available
Good to know
- Full-time, on-site in San Francisco, 9-9-5, with frequent travel
- Please apply with a personal note: short, generic or AI-written applications don't make it
- Process: intro call with a founder about motivation and fit → background deep dive → take-home presented live → paid work trial → offer
When you apply, please include
- Your CV (PDF) and your LinkedIn URL
- A market, city or marketplace you launched from zero, with the numbers (supply signed, take rate, P&L)
- A few lines on why education matters to you
- Your current location, and confirmation that San Francisco and frequent travel work for you
- Your visa or citizenship status, and if you'll need sponsorship
- Your base salary expectation, your notice period, and any other interview processes you're in
