JD – Senior Qlik BI Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Qlik BI Developer to own the design, build and performance of our analytics platform on the Qlik suite. You will turn raw data from multiple source systems into reliable data models and dashboards that business teams use to make decisions every day.

The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership: you will set standards, review work from junior developers, and partner directly with business stakeholders from requirement to rollout.

Key responsibilities:

1. Development and data modelling

• Design, develop and maintain dashboards and applications in Qlik Sense (Client-Managed and Qlik Cloud) and QlikView.
• Build optimised data models (star / snowflake schemas) and resolve synthetic keys, circular references and link-table scenarios.
• Write advanced Qlik load scripts: incremental loads, QVD layering (extract / transform / presentation), mapping, ApplyMap, IntervalMatch and section access.
• Develop complex front-end expressions using Set Analysis, Aggr(), alternate states and master items.
• Build pixel-perfect and scheduled reports with Qlik NPrinting / Qlik Cloud Reporting.

2. Data integration

• Integrate data from RDBMS (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL), cloud warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Databricks), ERP/CRM systems (SAP, Salesforce) and flat files / APIs.
• Work with Qlik Data Integration tools (Qlik Replicate, Qlik Compose, Qlik Talend Cloud) for data movement and pipeline automation where applicable.

3. Platform and performance

• Administer Qlik Sense environments via QMC / Management Console: streams/spaces, security rules, tasks, licences and reload scheduling.
• Tune application and reload performance; manage memory footprint and data volumes.
• Support migrations from QlikView to Qlik Sense and from on-premise to Qlik Cloud.

4. Leadership and stakeholder management

• Gather requirements from business users and translate them into KPIs, wireframes and technical specifications.
• Mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews and enforce development and UI/UX standards.
• Own data quality, testing (UAT) and documentation for delivered solutions.
• Estimate effort, plan sprints and deliver in an Agile environment.

Must-have skills

• 6–8 years of overall experience in Data Warehousing / BI, with at least 4 years of hands-on Qlik development.
• Expert in Qlik Sense and strong working knowledge of QlikView.
• Advanced Qlik scripting, data modelling and QVD-based architecture.
• Expert in Set Analysis, Aggr(), advanced expressions and dashboard performance optimisation.
• Hands-on with Qlik NPrinting or Qlik Cloud reporting.
• Strong SQL: complex joins, CTEs, window functions, stored procedures and query tuning.
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts: dimensional modelling, SCDs, ETL/ELT.
• Experience implementing Section Access and row-level security.
• Qlik Sense administration via QMC: publishing, task scheduling, security rules.
• Proven experience delivering at least 2–3 end-to-end Qlik implementations.

Good-to-have skills

• Qlik Cloud Analytics: spaces, data gateways, automations and tenant administration.
• Qlik Data Integration / Qlik Talend Cloud: Qlik Replicate (CDC), Qlik Compose.
• Qlik AutoML, Qlik Answers or Insight Advisor for AI-driven analytics.
• Qlik GeoAnalytics, Qlik Alerting and extensions / mashups (JavaScript, Qlik Engine API, nebula.js, enigma.js).
• Exposure to a second BI tool such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Python or R for data preparation and advanced analytics.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Version control (Git) and CI/CD for Qlik apps.
• Domain experience in BFSI, retail, manufacturing, pharma or supply chain.

Qualifications and soft skills:

1. Education and certifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Statistics or a related field.
• Qlik certifications preferred: Qlik Sense Data Architect, Qlik Sense Business Analyst, or Qlik Sense System Administrator.

2. Soft skills

• Clear communicator who can explain data to non-technical audiences and push back on requirements when needed.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with attention to data accuracy.
• Comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders and leading small teams.
• Self-driven, able to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines.
