About the role

We’re looking for an experienced, strategic labor and employment attorney to support Veeam’s growing team in the U.S. and throughout the Americas region. This role advises People & Culture and business leaders on the full range of global employment matters, manages employment-related disputes and investigations, and helps build scalable policies and processes to support Veeam’s growth. In partnership with People & Culture, Global Information Security, Finance, and business leaders across multiple jurisdictions, the successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to translate complex employment law requirements into practical, business-enabling guidance.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to People & Culture and business leaders on hiring, performance management, leaves of absence, accommodations, terminations, and reductions in force.
  • Advise on compliance with federal, state, and international employment laws, including wage and hour, leave, anti-discrimination, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Provide pragmatic, day-to-day guidance on employee relations issues and sensitive personnel matters, communicating legal risk with a full understanding of business needs.
  • Advise on classification of workers, including exempt/non-exempt status and employee/independent contractor determinations, across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Support expansion into new jurisdictions, including advising on local employment requirements, works councils, and other employee representative bodies, and support immigration-related matters in partnership with outside immigration counsel, including visa sponsorship and cross-border employment issues.
  • Partner with People & Culture on compensation, equity, and benefits programs to ensure legal compliance, including pay equity and pay transparency requirements, while monitoring emerging employment legislation and regulatory developments and translating them into practical readiness plans and policy updates.
  • Manage employment litigation, arbitrations, and administrative charges (e.g., EEOC, state agencies), including strategy, budget, and outside counsel relationships.
  • Advise on separation agreements, severance arrangements, and settlement negotiations, and partner with People & Culture on execution.
  • Provide employment law due diligence and support for M&A transactions, including workforce integration, harmonization of terms, and transition planning.
  • Advise on restrictive covenants, confidentiality agreements, and employee IP assignment provisions in partnership with the IP and Product Legal teams, and manage outside counsel relationships and budgets for employment litigation and specialized advice across jurisdictions.

What You'll Bring

  • JD (or equivalent) and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including significant employment law counseling and litigation management experience, ideally within a technology/software company; combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred.
  • Substantive experience advising on U.S. federal and multi-state employment law and experience with international employment matters.
  • Experience managing employment litigation, arbitrations, and agency charges.
  • Experience partnering directly with People & Culture and business leaders in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft clear policies and present concise, practical guidance to leadership.
  • Experience managing outside counsel relationships and budgets.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience supporting global employment law matters across multiple jurisdictions in the Americas.
  • Experience supporting mergers and acquisitions, including employment due diligence and workforce integration.
  • Experience advising on compensation, equity, benefits, pay equity, and pay transparency programs.
  • Experience supporting immigration, visa sponsorship, and cross-border employment matters.
  • Experience partnering with Information Security, Finance, and other cross-functional stakeholders on employment-related initiatives.

What you'll get

  • Unlimited paid time off, 12 paid holidays including 4 global VeeaMe Days for self-care and 24 paid volunteer hours annually through Veeam Cares
  • Paid parental leave: 8 weeks for all parents, 16 weeks for birthing parents

  • AirVet: 24/7 virtual veterinary care at no cost
  • Legal services, identity protection, and supplemental health insurance options
  • Tax-advantaged spending accounts for healthcare, dependent care, and commuting
