Senior Software Engineer (Rust) - Algorithmic Trading

Sartre Group are partnered with a fast-growing algorithmic trading firm to hire a Senior Software Engineer (Rust) into a core infrastructure team in Amsterdam.

This team builds and runs the data platform the whole business relies on, from real-time market and trading data through to the historical data used by trading, research and risk. The platform is run in-house rather than on managed services, and you’ll take technical ownership of it, with real influence over how it evolves.

You’ll work on:

• Building low-latency pipelines that ingest market and internal trading data in real time.
• Designing and operating high-throughput streaming and messaging systems with strong delivery guarantees.
• Developing real-time aggregation and long-term storage that stays fast as data volumes grow.
• Making sure data stays correct, catching and fixing issues before they reach anyone downstream.

They’re looking for:

• 5+ years’ software engineering experience, including designing and operating production data infrastructure where correctness really matters.
• Strong Rust, or strong C/C++ with the appetite to work primarily in Rust.
• Hands-on experience with streaming platforms and databases such as Kafka, PostgreSQL or ClickHouse, ideally self-hosted.
• Solid distributed systems knowledge and a strong sense of end-to-end ownership.
