Backend Developer (Laravel)

About PayOn

PayOn is building next-generation hospitality technology for Pakistan's HoReCa industry, focused on digital ordering, payments, transaction management, and restaurant operations.

We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer (Laravel) to work on our SaaS platform, payment infrastructure, APIs, and third-party financial integrations.

This is a technically demanding role. Candidates with FinTech, payment gateway, banking API, digital wallet, or transaction-processing experience will be strongly preferred.

Requirements

- 5+ years of professional PHP & Laravel experience.

- Strong knowledge of Laravel architecture and REST APIs.

- Experience with third-party API integrations.

- Strong MySQL, database design, indexing, and query optimization skills.

- Experience with payment gateways, banking APIs, wallets, merchant payments, or FinTech systems is highly preferred.

- Understanding of payment workflows, webhooks, retries, refunds, reversals, and reconciliation.

- Strong understanding of idempotency, transaction integrity, and preventing duplicate transactions.

- Experience with Git and collaborative development.

- Ability to debug, refactor, and improve existing production code.

- Strong problem-solving and English communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain scalable Laravel/PHP backend systems.

- Build secure REST APIs and third-party integrations.

- Develop and maintain payment and transaction workflows.

- Integrate payment gateways, banking APIs, and other financial services.

- Handle payment statuses, webhooks, refunds, reversals, and transaction reconciliation.

- Maintain database performance, security, and data integrity.

- Identify and resolve complex backend, API, and transaction-related issues.

- Collaborate with frontend, QA, DevOps, and product teams.

Interview & Work Policy

PayOn operates as a fully remote, virtual workplace.

Candidates must be comfortable with camera usage when reasonably required and screen sharing during working hours for collaboration, productivity, and virtual office operations.

Working Hours: 11 AM – 8 PM

Days Off: Saturday & Sunday

Compensation: KPI-Based & Performance-Based

Probation: 1 Month
