Validio is the agentic data management platform that automates data quality, lineage, and cataloging — so enterprises can finally trust the data behind their analytics, AI, and reporting. As a Design Engineer on our frontend team, you shape our core user experience — working closely with our Lead Frontend Engineer and Head of Product. We don't have a separate design team; the product's experience is designed by the people who build it. AI tools now handle much of the repetitive boilerplate, so the job has shifted to what we should build and how it should behave. Because generating code is easy, the bar for good architecture, code quality, and maintainability is higher than ever — we don't blindly ship AI output. Your role centers on product judgment, engineering discipline, and translating complex user needs into an interface that feels fast and lightweight. What you'll do Evolve our high-scale lineage graph — often tens of thousands of nodes per customer — so rendering, querying, and exploration stay fast and responsive Own the data quality experience: the density, layouts, and metric graphs that keep thousands of concurrent checks against completeness, validity, timeliness, accuracy, consistency, and uniqueness clean and quick to scan Turn incident response — deciding if an anomaly is real, finding the cause, checking sample rows, re-running validators, tracing lineage upstream — into one coherent workflow Make alerting configuration simple enough to hold in your head across Slack, Teams, Jira, email, ServiceNow, and webhooks, so the alerts that matter don't get buried in noise What you'll bring Strong product sense — you notice typography, spacing, hierarchy, and motion, and care about how a product feels to use A preference for the web platform — strong TypeScript and DOM fundamentals, and a clear-eyed view of framework trade-offs Strong SQL — performant queries against large datasets, reading execution plans, and reasoning about query cost Critical use of AI tools — you move fast with modern LLMs but retain full ownership of the architecture and catch what they get wrong A generalist mindset — comfortable across the UI, the GraphQL API, and the data layers underneath to ship a feature end to end What we don't look for Years of experience as a metric — we measure seniority by shipped work, architectural judgment, and product taste Strict specialization — we're looking for builders who want to own features from idea to production, not people who only want to write CSS or only design backend schemas Our stack, and why TypeScript and native Web Components on the frontend — no React, no Vue. We stay close to the web platform to avoid framework churn and major migration cycles. Node.js and GraphQL on the backend, on Postgres with the TimescaleDB extension for time-series workloads — we keep tight control over our data shapes to eliminate unnecessary latency. Claude Code is in daily use, and we adapt our engineering loop as the tooling evolves; we aim for one production release per sprint, weekly or bi-weekly. Prior experience with Web Components isn't required — solid TypeScript and DOM fundamentals are what matter. Why Validio Founded in Sweden in 2019, we're trusted by data-driven enterprises like Nordea, Canva, Truecaller, Traveloka, and Deutsche Glasfaser. We raised a $30M Series A this year and grew ARR 800% in twelve months as enterprises got serious about making their data AI-ready. At around 25 people, you'll decide what the core experience should be, not just how it gets built. Come as you are. We hire for what you'll build with us, and we welcome applicants of every background.
