Enterprise Architect
Location: Midrand (Gauteng, South Africa)

Role purpose
Provide end-to-end architectural governance. The role ensures that business processes, operational technology, applications, integrations, infrastructure, security and support arrangements work together as a coherent solution and meet governance requirements.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Lead design reviews; establish design principles, standards and acceptance criteria.
- Act as the single architecture point of accountability for cross-domain decisions.
- Maintain an auditable architecture decision register with rationale, impacts, conditions, approvers and follow-up actions. Track technical debt, assumptions, exceptions and architecture risks to closure.
- Ensure solution designs and supplier deliverables remain aligned with the approved architecture. Review designs for new sites, components, interfaces and change requests before implementation or formal approval.
- Lead cross-functional design discussions with Customer, Vodacom, delivery partners, OEMs, security teams and operational stakeholders.
- Assess proposed changes for their effect on performance, security, availability, data integrity, supportability and disaster recovery.
- Provide oversight and ownership of solution artefacts
- Provide architectural oversight of the interfaces between OT devices, Applications, Kafka, SAP and integration platforms.
- Define architecture requirements for production readiness, monitoring, service continuity, disaster recovery and the transition into operational support.
- Guide technical teams in resolving issues that cross system or supplier boundaries.
- Assess non-functional requirements and architectural evidence for Cybersecurity, Identity, Network segmentation, Availability, capacity, observability, data integrity, backup, disaster recovery and IT service continuity.
Technical Requirements
Role purpose
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across the technology platforms and integrations. The role coordinates technical teams, investigates issues across system boundaries, supports configuration and testing, and ensures that solutions can be deployed, monitored and supported reliably.
Key roles and responsibilities
- Coordinate security requirements, whitelisting, proxy configuration, DNS and routing between sites, Infrastructure, Enterprise Integration and approved external services.
- Coordinate technical integration with customer enterprise services and external parties,
- Develop a detailed working understanding of the solution environments, platforms, interfaces, network paths and operational dependencies.
- Technically coordinate solution interfaces with enterprise services and external parties
- Coordinate OT technical dependencies and integration to Applications
- Investigate and resolve technical issues across Applications, IoT platforms (Thingworx & Commander Platform), APIs, Integration Services, Infrastructure and OT Devices.
- Coordinate technical changes with application developers, infrastructure teams, network teams, Security team, Eskom integration teams, OEMs and vendors.
- Support the configuration and validation of interfaces, certificates, service accounts, proxies, firewall rules and environment-specific settings through approved processes.
- Coordinate the aggregation of alerts and incidents into OSSI and ServiceNow (SNOW),
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, including configuration inventories, interface details, troubleshooting guides and operational runbooks.
- Lead technical triage of cross-platform defects and incidents using logs, traces, network tests and configuration comparisons.
- Coordinate ingestion of Application, infrastructure, network and security events into the agreed monitoring platforms, including Azure Sentinel and Cortex XSIAM
- Drive the technical execution of security assurance activities with specialist teams: vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, SAST and DAST; consolidate findings, coordinate remediation and retesting, and provide evidence for release gates.
- Coordinate application and integration participation in DR failover and failback tests.
- Coordinate OT integration dependencies involving PLCs, Weightometers, Edge Devices, Gates and site networks.
Required experience and capabilities
- Senior Enterprise or Solution Architecture experience leading large, multi-vendor and multi technology tower programmes through design, implementation, commissioning and operational transition.
- Demonstrated authority in architecture governance - chairing design reviews, handling exceptions, documenting trade-offs and influencing decisions across organizational boundaries.
- Strong working knowledge of enterprise integration, OT/IT convergence, cyber security, infrastructure, resilience and disaster recovery.
- Ability to produce clear, decision-ready architecture artefacts and communicate risks to engineers, delivery leaders and senior stakeholders.
- TOGAF 9 or higher certified
- Senior hands-on experience in infrastructure, security, Service Provider, Enterprise Integration, application platforms or technical solution delivery.
- Ability to give engineers technical direction, maintain reliable evidence and documentation, and escalate decisions outside technical execution authority.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, Security, APIs, messaging platforms, networks, proxies
- Ability to work across application, infrastructure, network and operational technology teams.
- Clear technical documentation and communication skills.
- CCIE level expertise or equivalent experience
