Job description
As Interim Head of Finance, you will lead the Finance team through an important period of transition. The focus will be on ensuring business continuity, delivering the annual accounts, supporting the team in moving from the current operating model to the future target state, and strengthening the business control function.
You will play a key role in guiding the department through ongoing changes, including the outsourcing of operational activities, improvements in data infrastructure, and further professionalization of finance processes. Acting as a strategic partner to leadership, you will help shape the future of Finance while maintaining Triodos' collaborative and people-oriented culture.
Success in this role requires not only strong financial leadership, but also a leadership style that fits the organization: approachable, authentic, and capable of building trust. We are not looking for a highly corporate profile, but for someone who combines professionalism with empathy and pragmatism.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide interim leadership, ensuring continuity and stability in the Finance function.
• Lead and mentor a team of 12-13 professionals across Accounting, Reporting, Control and Oversight.
• Oversee financial management, reporting and control processes for accuracy, compliance and efficiency.
• Take ownership of the timely delivery of the annual accounts and related reporting obligations.
• Advise and guide the Finance team through the transition from the current to the future operating model.
• Develop and implement finance strategy aligned with Triodos' mission and long-term goals.
• Drive budgeting and support business case development for new products and initiatives.
• Strengthen internal controls and audit readiness; proactively identify and mitigate risks.
• Advise and challenge senior management on financial matters, acting as a trusted business partner.
• Lead change and innovation, leveraging technology, BI tools and data infrastructure to improve finance processes and insights.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on financial goals and governance.
• Guide the team through change, preparing the organization for the future.
Requirements
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with relevant certifications (RA, RC, CPA, CMA).
• At least 9-10 years of experience within financial services, including 4-5 years in a managerial or interim leadership position.
• Proven track record as an independent interim professional, preferably within the Dutch financial sector.
• Experience leading finance teams through organisational change and transformation.
• Up-to-date knowledge of Dutch and international financial regulations, particularly within asset management.
• Strong experience with financial reporting, governance, risk management and audit processes.
• Strategic, analytical and technology-minded, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to balance results and people, bringing teams along during periods of change.
• Learning agility and a strong ambassador for change.
• Mission-driven and committed to sustainable finance and Triodos' values.
• A leadership style that is approachable, collaborative and aligned with the culture of Triodos.
Key Competencies
Change Leadership
• Lead teams through uncertainty, communicate a clear vision and create stakeholder buy-in.
Strategic Thinking
• Align financial decisions with organizational priorities and assess the financial impact of change initiatives.
Stakeholder Management
• Build trusted relationships with senior leadership, board members, auditors and external partners while effectively managing differing interests.
Operational Excellence
• Maintain business continuity, oversee day-to-day operations and ensure compliance throughout periods of transition.
• Experience with process improvement and outsourcing is highly valued.
Analytical & Problem Solving
• Identify risks, recognize opportunities and make data-driven decisions that support long-term objectives.
People Leadership
• Coach, mentor and motivate finance professionals while fostering a resilient, future-ready and collaborative culture.
