We’re Hiring: Full-Time Japanese Medical Interpreters

LanguageBridge Solutions is expanding our Japanese medical interpretation team in Japan.

We are looking for experienced Japanese medical interpreters to join our team on a full-time basis and support a major U.S. client.

Position: Japanese Medical Interpreter

Role Description This full-time remote role is for Japanese Experienced Medical Interpreters who will provide high-quality interpretation services between Japanese and English in medical and healthcare settings. Day-to-day responsibilities include facilitating clear and accurate communication between patients, families, and medical professionals during appointments, consultations, and procedures, while maintaining strict confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA regulations. Interpreters will use OPI and VRI platforms to handle scheduled and on-demand calls, ensuring accurate conveyance of medical information, diagnoses, treatment plans, and consent discussions. The role involves applying medical terminology, cultural competence, and professional ethics, as well as documenting sessions according to company guidelines and participating in ongoing training to maintain and enhance interpreting standards.


Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Medical Interpretation and Medical Terminology skills, with experience in clinical or healthcare environments.
  • Candidates should possess solid Interpreting and Simultaneous Interpretation skills, ensuring accurate, impartial, and efficient communication in real time.
  • Candidates should possess Translation skills to support written communication when needed, such as patient instructions or medical forms.
  • Candidates should possess fluency in Japanese and English, with excellent listening, speaking, and comprehension abilities in both languages.
  • Relevant certifications in medical interpreting, such as CMI or equivalent, and familiarity with HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements are highly beneficial.
  • Experience working with remote interpretation platforms (OPI/VRI), strong technical literacy, and reliable high-speed internet access are required.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, professional demeanor, ability to manage stress in urgent medical situations, and strong time-management skills are important.
  • A high school diploma is required; a college degree in languages, healthcare, or related fields is preferred.
