Role Description: News Contributors at Topical Context News are responsible for identifying relevant news topics, researching stories, and producing original written content that aligns with the platform’s editorial standards. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring news feeds and social media, verifying information, and drafting clear, concise stories each day. Contributors collaborate with editors to refine story angles, revise copy, and ensure accuracy and balance in coverage. This is a full-time, remote role, requiring consistent availability for breaking news, routine communication with the editorial team, and adherence to publishing schedules.

Qualifications

• Strong reporting and research abilities, including source development, fact-checking, and verification of information.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with the capacity to produce clear, engaging news articles and features for digital audiences.
• Ability to analyze trends, interpret data, and provide context that helps readers understand complex issues.
• Comfort with digital tools, content management systems, and online publishing workflows.
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical journalism, accuracy, and fairness in news coverage.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently in a remote, deadline-driven environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with editors and other team members.
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Previous experience contributing to news outlets, blogs, or digital publications is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with social media and audience engagement strategies is a plus.
