The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Radio Station Manager to lead the overall operational, programming, commercial, technical, and audience performance of a radio station.
The ideal candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across programming, talent, production, advertising, digital platforms, engineering coordination, compliance, budgeting, and audience development.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement the station's overall strategy, business plan, programming direction, and operational priorities.
- Manage day-to-day station operations and ensure reliable, professional, and efficient delivery.
- Establish programming strategies aligned with target audiences, market positioning, brand identity, and commercial objectives.
- Oversee programming schedules, show formats, music rotations, talk content, news, entertainment, special programming, and live broadcasts.
- Work with Program Directors, producers, presenters, journalists, and content teams to maintain high-quality programming.
- Recruit, manage, coach, and evaluate presenters, producers, journalists, technical staff, sales teams, and administrative personnel.
- Establish performance expectations, development plans, schedules, and staffing requirements.
- Monitor program performance and make adjustments based on audience data, market trends, feedback, and strategic priorities.
- Develop strategies to grow audience reach, engagement, loyalty, and listening frequency.
- Monitor ratings, audience research, digital engagement, podcast performance, streaming activity, and social media metrics.
- Coordinate content across broadcast, streaming, websites, mobile platforms, podcasts, and social channels.
- Ensure consistent station branding, tone, editorial standards, and audience experience across platforms.
- Oversee the production and delivery of promotional campaigns, station imaging, contests, sponsorships, and special features.
- Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to develop commercially attractive programming and advertising opportunities.
- Support advertising sales through effective inventory management, sponsorship packages, branded content, and promotional opportunities.
- Monitor advertising schedules, commercial inventory, campaign delivery, and client commitments.
- Maintain strong relationships with advertisers, agencies, sponsors, media partners, artists, event organizers, and other commercial stakeholders.
- Develop partnerships and promotional opportunities that increase audience reach and commercial value.
- Manage station budgets, operating expenses, staffing costs, production costs, technology requirements, and capital investments.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets, revenue targets, and profitability objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue through advertising, sponsorships, events, digital products, content licensing, and partnerships.
- Coordinate with Engineering and Technology teams to maintain reliable broadcast infrastructure and transmission systems.
- Monitor station uptime, transmission quality, studio availability, recording systems, automation, streaming, and related technical services.
- Establish contingency procedures for technical failures, transmission interruptions, power outages, and other operational disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable broadcasting laws, licensing requirements, advertising standards, copyright obligations, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain appropriate editorial, ethical, legal, and content standards across station programming.
- Establish procedures for handling listener complaints, editorial concerns, regulatory inquiries, and sensitive content issues.
- Oversee news and current-affairs operations where applicable, ensuring appropriate editorial processes and standards.
- Coordinate outside broadcasts, live events, remote productions, interviews, concerts, promotions, and community initiatives.
- Develop relationships with artists, public figures, cultural organizations, community groups, and industry partners.
- Support talent development and succession planning for key on-air and operational positions.
- Establish regular programming reviews and performance meetings with relevant department leaders.
- Use audience research and analytics to inform programming, scheduling, content, and marketing decisions.
- Monitor competitor stations, emerging formats, audience trends, technology developments, and changes in media consumption.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives involving streaming, podcasts, mobile applications, social media, on-demand content, and audience engagement platforms.
- Maintain station policies, operating procedures, programming standards, emergency plans, and business-continuity documentation.
- Manage external production companies, technology providers, consultants, agencies, and service vendors.
- Monitor vendor performance, service quality, contractual obligations, costs, and delivery standards.
- Conduct regular operational and commercial reviews to identify risks, inefficiencies, and growth opportunities.
- Prepare management reports covering audience performance, programming, revenue, costs, staffing, technical operations, compliance, and strategic initiatives.
- Represent the station at industry events, community activities, media functions, commercial meetings, and public engagements.

The successful candidate should have strong experience in radio broadcasting, media operations, station management, programming, content production, or commercial media, preferably within radio networks, broadcasting groups, digital media organizations, or entertainment businesses.
