  • Assess laboratory test reports for completeness, consistency, technical accuracy, and alignment with relevant testing standards.
  • Provide remote technical guidance on octane testing methodologies, including applicable ASTM and other recognized industry procedures.
  • Analyze fuel composition and blending data to identify factors that may influence octane performance.
  • Monitor octane rating trends across production batches, blending streams, storage periods, and distribution activities.
  • Investigate reported inconsistencies, abnormal test results, and potential deviations from approved fuel specifications.
  • Review laboratory quality-control records, calibration documentation, proficiency testing results, and measurement uncertainty assessments.
  • Support the evaluation of gasoline blending strategies and component selection from an octane performance perspective.
  • Prepare technical assessments and recommendations concerning octane specification compliance and product quality.
  • Coordinate with laboratory personnel to clarify testing discrepancies and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
  • Review technical documentation relating to fuel additives, oxygenates, blending components, and their potential effects on octane ratings.
  • Maintain structured records of analytical findings, test report reviews, deviations, and technical recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of octane data review procedures, quality indicators, and reporting templates.
  • Support internal and external quality audits through remote documentation reviews and evidence preparation.
  • Provide technical input for investigations involving customer complaints or fuel quality concerns related to engine knock resistance.
  • Communicate complex technical findings clearly to quality, operations, commercial, and management stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Fuel Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in petroleum product testing, gasoline quality assurance, fuel blending, or refinery laboratory operations.
  • Strong knowledge of gasoline octane rating principles, including Research Octane Number (RON) and Motor Octane Number (MON).
  • Familiarity with ASTM D2699, ASTM D2700, and other relevant fuel testing standards.
  • Understanding of gasoline composition, hydrocarbon blending components, oxygenates, and fuel performance characteristics.
  • Experience reviewing laboratory reports, analytical data, quality-control records, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of laboratory quality management systems and relevant ISO/IEC 17025 principles.
  • Strong analytical, numerical reasoning, and technical report-writing skills.
  • Ability to investigate anomalous results and identify potential sources of measurement or process variation.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, data analysis tools, technical reporting platforms, and document management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with geographically distributed technical teams.
What We Offer
  • Fully remote working arrangement within the stated UAE job location.
  • Full-time senior-level technical role focused on petroleum product quality and fuel performance.
  • Opportunities to contribute to fuel quality improvement and analytical standardization initiatives.
  • Collaborative work with multidisciplinary laboratory, refinery, and quality assurance teams.
