This role is responsible for supporting treaty negotiations, coordinating with cedants and reinsurers, ensuring accurate treaty records, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal controls. The ideal candidate combines technical reinsurance knowledge with strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Treaty Placement Support: Coordinate treaty renewal processes, prepare placement information, review submissions, and assist with negotiations involving reinsurers, brokers, and internal underwriting teams.
  • Contract Documentation: Review treaty wordings, endorsements, schedules, clauses, and contractual amendments to ensure consistency with negotiated terms and approved arrangements.
  • Premium Calculations: Validate treaty premiums, commissions, brokerage, profit commissions, adjustments, and other contractual financial components.
  • Claims and Recoveries: Monitor treaty-related claims, assess recoverability under contractual provisions, and coordinate the submission and settlement of reinsurance claims and recoveries.
  • Cession Management: Verify ceded premiums, insured exposures, risk allocations, and treaty participation details to ensure accurate recording of reinsurance arrangements.
  • Treaty Compliance: Ensure treaty operations follow contractual obligations, internal procedures, applicable UAE insurance regulations, and relevant regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Reconciliation and Settlement: Reconcile treaty accounts, premium bordereaux, claims statements, cash settlements, and balances with reinsurers and brokers.
  • Renewal Coordination: Maintain treaty renewal calendars, track outstanding documentation, gather underwriting and exposure data, and coordinate timely completion of renewal activities.
  • Exposure and Capacity Monitoring: Monitor treaty limits, retention levels, reinstatements, aggregate exposures, and available reinsurance capacity to identify potential coverage gaps.
  • Counterparty Management: Liaise with reinsurers, reinsurance brokers, underwriting teams, finance, actuarial, risk management, and compliance departments to resolve operational and contractual issues.
  • Data Quality and Reporting: Maintain accurate treaty databases and prepare reports on treaty performance, premium movements, claims recoveries, outstanding balances, and renewal status.
  • Audit and Regulatory Support: Prepare treaty documentation, reconciliation records, and supporting evidence for internal audits, external reviews, and regulatory inspections.
  • Issue Resolution: Investigate discrepancies in treaty wording, premium calculations, claims recoveries, and settlement records, ensuring appropriate resolution and documentation.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen treaty administration, improve reporting accuracy, streamline workflows, and enhance operational controls.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide support to junior team members and advise internal stakeholders on treaty provisions, administrative requirements, and reinsurance processes.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience in reinsurance treaty administration, reinsurance operations, treaty underwriting support, or reinsurance broking.
  • Strong understanding of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance structures, treaty placement processes, and contractual terminology.
  • Practical experience reviewing treaty wordings, endorsements, schedules, premium statements, and claims recovery documentation.
  • Knowledge of treaty premium calculations, ceding commissions, profit commissions, reinstatement premiums, and settlement procedures.
  • Familiarity with reinsurance accounting, bordereaux processing, ceded exposure reporting, and reconciliation processes.
