About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Survey Sampling Methodology Specialist to design, evaluate, and improve statistical sampling methodologies for surveys, research studies, population assessments, and large-scale data collection programs. The successful candidate will develop sampling frameworks, determine appropriate sample sizes, assess sampling errors, and provide methodological guidance to ensure that survey results are statistically reliable, representative, and suitable for decision-making.
This fully remote position focuses on sampling design, statistical analysis, methodology development, quality assurance, and technical reporting. The specialist will collaborate with statisticians, data scientists, research teams, survey operations professionals, and organizational stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implement probability and non-probability sampling methodologies for surveys and research projects.
- Develop sampling frames and evaluate their suitability, coverage, completeness, and representativeness.
- Determine appropriate sample sizes based on population characteristics, confidence levels, precision requirements, and research objectives.
- Design stratified, cluster, systematic, multistage, and simple random sampling approaches.
- Evaluate sampling efficiency and recommend appropriate sampling strategies for complex survey populations.
- Develop procedures for sample selection, allocation, replacement, and respondent recruitment.
- Calculate and assess sampling errors, design effects, confidence intervals, and statistical precision.
- Develop and review weighting methodologies, including base weights, non-response adjustments, and calibration weighting.
- Evaluate potential sources of sampling bias, coverage error, non-response, and measurement error.
- Conduct methodological assessments to determine the reliability and representativeness of survey findings.
- Review survey questionnaires, population definitions, and data collection plans to identify potential methodological limitations.
- Collaborate with survey operations teams to align sampling designs with practical data collection requirements.
- Develop sampling documentation, methodological reports, technical specifications, and statistical procedures.
- Review survey datasets to identify inconsistencies, unusual response patterns, and potential sample quality issues.
- Recommend improvements to sampling processes, survey quality controls, and statistical reporting frameworks.
- Support the development of reproducible sampling workflows using statistical software and programming tools.
- Provide technical guidance to researchers, analysts, and project stakeholders on sampling principles and statistical interpretation.
- Monitor developments in statistical sampling techniques, survey research standards, and relevant methodological practices.
- Support internal reviews, research audits, and methodological evaluations.

- Experience developing sampling frames and determining statistically appropriate sample sizes.
- Understanding of stratification, clustering, multistage sampling, and unequal probability sampling.
- Experience calculating sampling weights, design effects, confidence intervals, and margins of error.
- Knowledge of non-response adjustment, calibration weighting, and bias assessment techniques.
- Proficiency in statistical software such as R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, or Python.
- Experience analyzing large survey datasets and evaluating data quality.
- Understanding of survey research principles, questionnaire design, and fieldwork considerations.
- Ability to interpret complex statistical results and communicate methodological limitations clearly.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent technical writing and presentation abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to statistical accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple research projects and methodological assignments independently.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with international and multidisciplinary teams in a remote environment.
- A fully remote, work-from-home arrangement.
- Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
- Opportunities to contribute to large-scale research and statistical survey projects.
