Are you an experienced employment solicitor looking for a varied role where your advice will make a genuine difference to public and education sector clients?

As a Solicitor within Invicta Law’s Employment, Pensions and Education team, you will manage a varied caseload covering complex employment matters, tribunal proceedings and organisational change. You will advise a diverse client base, including local authorities, schools, academies and external organisations.

This opportunity would suit a confident employment solicitor with strong respondent-side experience who can manage their own caseload, provide practical advice and represent clients effectively.

Who we are

Invicta Law is part of Commercial Services Group (CSG), one of the UK’s largest local authority-owned trading organisations, operating businesses across education, energy, IT, procurement, HR and more.

A significant proportion of our profits is reinvested into frontline public services, enabling us to combine commercial performance with meaningful social value.

Invicta Law provides specialist legal advice to local authorities, schools, academies and other public sector organisations. Our teams combine legal expertise with a strong understanding of the challenges and responsibilities facing public services.

Why this role matters

You will play a key role in helping clients manage complex employment matters, resolve disputes and make informed decisions while meeting their legal and organisational responsibilities.

This is a role where sound legal judgement, client focus and clear communication are essential, with responsibility for managing employment cases and providing practical, commercially aware advice.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing a varied caseload of respondent-side employment law matters with an appropriate level of supervision

  • Advising clients on complex employment issues, including TUPE, employee relations and governance

  • Preparing cases for multi-day Employment Tribunal hearings

  • Representing clients at tribunals and courts or supporting counsel where appropriate

  • Building effective relationships with local authority, education and external clients

  • Conducting legal research and sharing findings to support case preparation and team knowledge

  • Providing legal support across related areas when required, including education, pensions, policy and data protection matters

  • Maintaining high professional standards and complying with internal quality assurance processes

What we’re looking for

  • A qualified solicitor with strong employment law experience

  • Proven respondent-side employment law experience

  • Good knowledge of TUPE, employee relations and wider employment law matters

  • The ability to manage a busy caseload, prioritise effectively and meet demanding deadlines

  • A proactive and practical approach, with the confidence to respond to urgent client needs

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and accessible legal advice

  • Strong client relationship-building skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues

  • A willingness to support related matters involving education law, policy reviews, LGPS pensions and data protection

What you’ll get in return

  • Salary of up to £55,000 per annum, depending on experience (pro-rata)

  • 25 days on entry (rising to 27 days after four years of service)

  • Extra day off for your birthday!

  • One discretionary additional day during the Christmas period

  • Group Pension Plan

  • Practising certificate paid for annually by the company

  • Life assurance cover at four times your salary

  • Access to training and development opportunities

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • National and local retail discount scheme

  • Remote working options
