This role leads multidisciplinary mechanical, electronics, and mechatronic engineering work and partners with program teams, cross-functional organizations, and suppliers to deliver safety-critical steering systems that meet program requirements and quality, cost, weight, timing, reliability, and performance targets.

  • Lead and develop a team of engineers responsible for EPAS systems on the Medium SUV platform and steering gear engineering on the C-car platform.

  • Manage the design, development, validation, and vehicle integration of safety-critical steering systems from initial concept through production design release and launch.

  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering across mechanical hardware, electronics, and mechatronic system interfaces.

  • Prioritize complex engineering workstreams with multiple interdependencies and design trade-offs, and align the team to program timing, quality, cost, weight, reliability, and performance objectives.

  • Coordinate system and subsystem Failure Mode Avoidance and safety analysis, including DFMEA and Functional Safety activities, to support robust requirements, fault-management strategies, design analysis, and validation across applicable engineering disciplines.

  • Support Functional Safety activities, including ISO 26262 application where required, to enable safe system design and validation.

  • Manage steering suppliers and establish work plans to achieve program milestones and technical deliverables.

  • Lead vehicle, system, subsystem, hardware, and functional verification and validation, including interfaces with other vehicle systems.

  • Lead vehicle issue investigations, data collection, root-cause analysis, and resolution of design, package, quality, and launch issues.

  • Lead prototype build and validation planning and support production launch, plant reviews, and issue resolution.

  • Prepare and present program, project, and technical milestone status to leadership and cross-functional partners.

  • Coach employees, set clear priorities and expectations, support technical growth, and foster a collaborative culture focused on quality and customer satisfaction.

  • Lead, mentor, and coach engineers by providing clear direction, technical guidance, regular feedback, and professional-development support.

  • Manage workload distribution, resource planning, and priorities to support program commitments and sustainable team execution.

  • Build an inclusive, collaborative team culture that promotes continuous improvement, technical innovation, accountability, and effective teamwork.

  • Develop team capability and succession strength by identifying skill gaps, creating growth opportunities, and supporting employee development.

  • Establish clear objectives, monitor progress, remove barriers, and hold the team accountable for quality and timely delivery.

  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Finance, Manufacturing, and Quality to align technical execution with cost, quality, assembly, and launch objectives.

  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and commodity strategies, including opportunities for weight reduction, cost optimization, and complexity reduction.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a strongly related engineering field from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 8 years of automotive engineering experience or related engineering experience.

  • Experience leading technical projects, engineering workstreams, or engineering teams.
