The Company

E&P Financial Group (E&P) is a diversified financial services business, servicing clients across wealth management, funds management, corporate advisory, institutional sales and trading and research. We provide high quality, market leading financial advice for individuals, families, for-purpose organisations, corporates and institutions.
An unwavering focus on our clients drives everything we do. We help our clients realise their goals. They value our collective expertise that delivers knowledge and insights to help unlock opportunities and drive growth in a constantly changing financial and economic landscape.

Our culture is guided by our values of Client First, Integrity, Growth & Innovation, Respect & Inclusion and Collaboration.

We believe that everyone should be able to be their authentic self at work and to focus on the things that matter to you. Our commitment to your career and development is genuine, and our established structure supports the learning experience you expect. Working with us means you get to learn from and collaborate with some of the best in the business.

The Role

We're looking for a Technology Associate to join our AI & Technology Solutions team in Canberra. This is a graduate-level software development role for a recent graduate - or someone up to two years into their career - who enjoys working closely with people as much as building technology, and wants to build a career in a regulated financial services environment.

You'll work directly with our business units across Wealth, Capital, Funds and Group Services to understand how they work, then design, build and support solutions purpose-built for their needs. You'll be part of a team of software developers, business analysts and test analysts, using AI coding agents as your primary way of building software, with exposure to every layer of a production system and the full delivery lifecycle - from discovery and design through to build, testing, release and support. You'll receive on-the-job training and mentoring from senior team members along the way, building your technical, domain and regulatory knowledge from day one.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Work directly with business unit stakeholders to understand their workflows and needs, and translate them into practical solutions
  • Support requirement analysis, solution design and planning, and prototype solutions with business users
  • Develop across the full stack, including front-end, back-end and database development (C#/.NET, Angular/React, SQL Server)
  • Use AI coding agents as your primary way of building software, including reviewing and validating AI-generated code
  • Contribute to building and validating E&P's internal AI agents and tools
  • Perform integration testing and support user acceptance testing with business users
  • Support production releases, including troubleshooting and monitoring of error logs

About You

You're curious, keen to learn, and as interested in the problem as the code. You enjoy working with people, and you're excited by the idea of getting real hands-on experience. Whether you're fresh out of university or a couple of years into your career and looking for something more interesting and fast-moving, we want to hear from you.
Key to your success in the role will be:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or a related discipline (including final year) – or up to two years' professional experience, or up to two years post-graduation
  • Exposure to at least one object-oriented language (C# preferred, but Java, TypeScript or Python also welcome) through study, internships or personal projects
  • Some exposure to relational databases and SQL
  • Clear communication skills and comfort working directly with non-technical people
  • A keen interest in financial services, with a willingness to build domain and regulatory knowledge on the job

Highly regarded but not required
  • Some exposure to front-end development
  • Some exposure to AI coding assistants or agent-native development
  • A willingness to gain experience in Angular/React, SQL Server, REST API integrations, Git or automation scripting

Our Benefits
We have a range of benefits that we think you'll like including daily breakfast options, purchased annual leave, and discounted services.

We know our people work hard, so we have an active social and sporting calendar to ensure the balance of work and social is just right. We take our responsibilities to our people, clients and community seriously and as an equal opportunity employer, value inclusion and diversity.
