We provide bookkeeping, tax, Fractional CFO, Quality of Earnings (QoE), and M&A advisory services. Our tax practice supports individuals, S Corporations, partnerships, and HOAs across multiple states using a modern technology stack including ProConnect, Drake Tax, QuickBooks Online & Desktop, monday.com, and AI-powered workflows.
As our tax practice continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced US Tax Specialist to own tax engagements from data collection through successful filing. This is a hands-on role for someone who can independently manage a portfolio of returns while delivering exceptional client service.
What you will own
Tax Return Preparation & Filing
- Prepare and file Federal and State tax returns, including 1040, 1120-S, 1065, and 1120-H.
- Manage complete tax engagements from source documents to successful e-file acceptance.
- Handle multi-entity client structures, multi-year catch-up returns, overdue filings, and tax extensions.
- Monitor e-file acknowledgements (MeF) and resolve filing issues when required.
Notices, Elections & Tax Resolution
- Review and respond to IRS and State tax notices.
- Prepare penalty abatement requests, including First-Time Abatement, Reasonable Cause, and Rev. Proc. 84-35 relief.
- Prepare tax elections such as Form 2553, Form 3115, and maintain accurate depreciation schedules.
Sales Tax & State Compliance
- Prepare and file multi-state Sales & Use Tax returns.
- Support state registrations, withholding requirements, and other state-specific compliance obligations.
- Assess taxability and document filing positions where applicable.
Software, Data & Workflow Management
- Work daily in ProConnect, Drake Tax, QuickBooks Online & Desktop, monday.com, and Google Workspace.
- Maintain organized workpapers and accurate documentation.
- Keep assigned engagements updated and moving through the firm's workflow.
Client Communication & Project Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients.
- Communicate directly with US business owners via email and Zoom.
- Follow up on outstanding information, provide proactive status updates, and coordinate with internal accounting and tax teams to ensure timely filing.
You are a fit if you have actually done this
- Independently prepared and filed 1040, 1120-S, and 1065 tax returns.
- Worked in ProConnect and/or Drake Tax.
- Managed Federal and multi-state tax filings, extensions, and e-file submissions.
- Responded to IRS or State tax notices.
- Used QuickBooks Online and Desktop to prepare tax returns.
- Managed multiple tax engagements while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Communicated directly with clients throughout the tax preparation process.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience preparing US tax returns across 1040, 1120-S, and 1065.
- Working proficiency in ProConnect and/or Drake Tax.
- Strong understanding of tax filing procedures, extensions, e-filing, and IRS notice responses.
- Experience using QuickBooks Online & Desktop.
- Active PTIN.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
- Available to work full-time during US business hours.
Preferred
- Experience with multi-entity client groups and pass-through entities.
- Multi-state Sales & Use Tax experience.
- Familiarity with IRS notice resolution and penalty abatements.
- Experience serving Construction, Medical, Dental, or SaaS clients.
- EA or CPA designation (preferred but not required).
- Comfortable using AI-powered tools to improve efficiency.

Work Setup
- Full-time
