Role Description

The Accountancy Manager – UK is a full-time, hybrid role based in Lahore, with the flexibility to perform part of the work from home. The role involves managing a portfolio of UK-based SME and self-employed clients, overseeing bookkeeping, accounts preparation, and tax compliance. Responsibilities include reviewing financial statements, preparing and reviewing UK tax returns, managing deadlines, and ensuring accuracy and adherence to UK accounting and tax regulations. The Accountancy Manager will supervise junior team members, allocate work, provide guidance, and maintain quality standards across client deliverables. The role also includes responding to client queries, advising on tax-efficient structures, and collaborating with leadership to improve processes and support the firm’s growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Client & Relationship Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for key clients and ensure a high standard of service.
• Manage client communication, respond to queries, and oversee onboarding/offboarding.
• Review accounts, corporation tax returns, and Self Assessment tax returns before submission.

Team Leadership & Workflow Oversight

• Supervise, mentor, and support junior and senior accounting staff.
• Review team work and provide training to maintain technical accuracy and professional standards.
• Oversee capacity planning, job allocation, and workload balancing across the team.

Practice Operations & Process Improvement

• Maintain and improve internal processes, workflows, and systems to maximise efficiency.
• Ensure all client work is delivered on time, within deadlines, and in line with internal SLAs.
• Monitor KPIs for productivity, turnaround times, and quality.
• Support implementation and optimisation of accounting software and practice management tools.

Qualifications

• ACCA/ACA qualified (or equivalent), with strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, corporation tax, and personal tax for SME and self-employed clients.
• Minimum 6 years' experience in a UK accounting practice, including experience managing staff and overseeing workflows remotely.
• Excellent English communication skills (C1 or above) — essential, as this role involves direct UK client contact.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a team: reviewing work, allocating jobs, and balancing workload across staff.
• Strong organisational skills, comfortable managing multiple client deadlines and competing priorities.
• Proficiency in cloud accounting and practice management software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Iris Elements, Taxfiler) and advanced Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH).
• Track record of building client relationships and resolving issues to a high service standard.
• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, Companies House, and HMRC requirements.
