Job Description This is a remote position. The Opportunity: At Pentoz, we’re building advanced digital commerce solutions that serve a wide range of industries—from specialty retailers to enterprise brands. As an X-Cart Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, customizing, and maintaining eCommerce websites built on the X-Cart platform. You will work closely with designers, marketers, and project managers to deliver scalable, high-performing storefronts with rich user experiences. Your work will help businesses enhance their online presence, increase sales, and improve operational efficiency through custom development and strategic integrations. You Will Be Responsible For: Custom Development: Building and customizing eCommerce websites using X-Cart, PHP, MySQL, and related technologies. Module Integration: Installing and configuring third-party modules, plugins, and themes to enhance site functionality. Performance Optimization: Optimizing website speed, mobile responsiveness, and overall performance using best practices in front-end and back-end development. API & System Integration: Connecting X-Cart with payment gateways, CRMs, shipping services, and ERP systems via API integrations. Maintenance & Support: Providing ongoing technical support, bug fixes, updates, and enhancements for existing X-Cart stores. Security & Compliance: Ensuring PCI compliance, secure code development, and adherence to data protection standards. Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, develop solutions, and deliver eCommerce functionality that aligns with business goals. This Role Is For You If: You have 2–5 years of hands-on experience with X-Cart (v4 or v5) and related PHP-based eCommerce platforms. You’re fluent in PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. You understand MVC architecture and have worked with Smarty templates or Twig (for newer versions). You have experience with Git and version control workflows. You have a strong understanding of eCommerce operations, including carts, checkout, product catalogs, and order management. You are detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently or in a remote team. Bonus Points If You Have: Experience migrating stores between X-Cart versions or from other platforms (Magento, WooCommerce, Shopify). Knowledge of Laravel, Symfony, or similar frameworks. Familiarity with cloud hosting, CDN configuration, and server optimization. Worked on B2B commerce solutions, subscription billing, or multi-vendor setups. Experience with SEO optimization, schema markup, and Google Analytics integration.
