Yemert provides accessible crop protection and market access to farmers across Africa through a simple USSD code *347*168#, eliminating the need for smartphones, apps, or internet access. Farmers can protect their crops, connect directly with trusted buyers, and earn additional income by adopting climate-smart practices. The solution is tailored to real farmers in local communities, focusing on ease of use, practical support, and measurable impact.

Role Description

Yemert Extension Agent is a contract role responsible for supporting farmers across Nigeria, specifically in Oyo and Niger State, and with Yemert’s services and climate-smart practices. This hybrid position involves meeting farmers in person within the community, conducting training sessions, and providing ongoing guidance, while also completing some administrative and reporting tasks from home. Daily activities include educating farmers on how to use the *347*168# service, explaining crop protection options, and helping them connect with trusted buyers. The Extension Agent will gather feedback from farmers, document field activities, and collaborate with the Yemert team to improve service delivery and outreach. The role requires regular community engagement, clear communication, and a strong commitment to farmer success.

  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid arrangement, manage time well, and maintain accurate records of field activities.
  • Basic mobile phone literacy and comfort using USSD or similar tools; previous experience with farmer outreach programs is an advantage.
  • Relevant diploma or degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, or a related field is preferred but not strictly required with strong experience.
