The Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Airport Operations to oversee airport operational management, improve service delivery, strengthen operational efficiency, and support long-term business objectives.

This part-time remote leadership position is suited to a senior aviation professional with extensive experience in airport operations, aviation management, operational planning, and stakeholder coordination.

The successful candidate will work closely with airport authorities, aviation regulators, airline representatives, ground handling companies, security teams, and other stakeholders to ensure effective operational coordination and compliance with applicable aviation standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement airport operational strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
• Oversee airport operational activities to ensure efficiency, safety, and service quality.
• Establish operational policies, procedures, and performance standards.
• Monitor airport operations, including passenger services, terminal management, ground handling, and airside coordination.
• Ensure compliance with applicable aviation regulations, safety standards, and operational requirements.
• Coordinate with airport authorities, airlines, aviation regulators, and other industry stakeholders.
• Develop strategies to improve passenger experience, operational performance, and service delivery.
• Monitor operational KPIs, service standards, and airport performance indicators.
• Oversee operational budgets, resource allocation, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Identify operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
• Support emergency preparedness, business continuity, and operational resilience planning.
• Lead and coordinate airport operations management teams and department heads.
• Establish effective communication and coordination between airport departments and external service providers.
• Review operational reports, identify performance gaps, and recommend corrective actions.
• Support airport development, infrastructure improvement, and modernization initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to implement innovative technologies and digital solutions in airport operations.
• Promote a strong safety culture and continuous operational improvement.
• Prepare management reports, strategic recommendations, and operational performance reviews.

Requirements

• At least 8–10 years of relevant professional experience in airport operations, aviation management, or a similar senior aviation leadership role preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Airport Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• A master's degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is an advantage.
• Proven experience managing airport operations, aviation services, or complex operational environments.
• Strong understanding of airport operations, airside and landside activities, and terminal management.
• Knowledge of applicable aviation regulations, ICAO standards, and airport safety management systems.
• Experience coordinating with airlines, airport authorities, ground handling providers, and regulatory agencies.
• Strong understanding of operational risk management, emergency preparedness, and business continuity.
• Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong financial management, budgeting, and resource allocation skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage complex operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
• Experience with airport modernization, operational technology, or digital transformation is an advantage.
• International aviation experience, particularly in the UAE and GCC region, is an advantage.
• Ability to provide remote strategic oversight and coordinate effectively with on-site operational teams.
