Senior HSE Specialist

Role Description The Senior HSE Specialist is a part-time, remote role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health, safety, and environmental practices within HK Data Lab’s activities and virtual operations. This role includes assessing risks related to events and collaborative projects, creating and updating HSE policies and guidelines, and ensuring compliance with applicable occupational health and safety standards. The specialist will design and deliver safety training materials for staff, speakers, and participants, and advise on best practices for safe work environments in both physical and remote settings. Day-to-day tasks also involve incident reporting and analysis, continuous improvement of HSE processes, and coordination with internal stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Workplace Safety skills, with experience applying them in organizational or event-based contexts.
• Candidates should possess expertise in Environment Health and Safety (EHS) and Occupational Health to manage risk assessments and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Candidates should possess Safety Training skills, including designing and delivering effective training sessions and educational materials.
• Candidates should have experience in HSE policy development, incident investigation, and continuous improvement of safety procedures.
• Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote, part-time capacity.
• A relevant degree or professional certification in HSE, EHS, occupational health, or a related field is preferred; experience in educational or community-based environments is an advantage.
