The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to provide comprehensive functional assessment, occupational therapy intervention, rehabilitation, clinical education, and professional guidance to patients with physical, neurological, developmental, cognitive, sensory, behavioral, and functional needs.

The ideal candidate will combine strong clinical expertise with excellent assessment, treatment planning, communication, documentation, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills. The role requires a patient-centered approach and strict adherence to professional, ethical, clinical, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments within professional scope and applicable clinical standards.
• Assess functional abilities, activities of daily living, mobility, cognition, coordination, sensory processing, and participation.
• Evaluate the impact of physical, cognitive, developmental, psychological, and environmental factors on daily functioning.
• Review relevant medical, developmental, social, educational, and occupational information.
• Conduct interviews with patients, families, caregivers, teachers, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Use appropriate standardized and non-standardized assessment tools.
• Identify functional limitations, occupational performance barriers, safety risks, and rehabilitation needs.
• Develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans based on assessment findings.
• Establish measurable goals collaboratively with patients, families, caregivers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Deliver evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.
• Provide individual and group therapy according to patient needs.
• Support rehabilitation for individuals with neurological, orthopedic, musculoskeletal, developmental, cognitive, and functional conditions.
• Provide interventions designed to improve independence in activities of daily living.
• Support rehabilitation involving dressing, bathing, grooming, feeding, household activities, work-related tasks, and community participation.
• Develop therapeutic activities to improve strength, coordination, motor skills, balance, endurance, cognition, and functional performance.
• Provide cognitive and perceptual rehabilitation where appropriately qualified.
• Support sensory-processing and regulation needs within professional competence.
• Develop individualized home-exercise, activity, and functional-practice programs.
• Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques, adaptive strategies, safety, and home-based support.
• Recommend appropriate assistive devices, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications.
• Assess home, workplace, school, or community environments where appropriate.
• Provide recommendations to improve accessibility, safety, independence, and participation.
• Support return-to-work, return-to-school, and community-reintegration programs where appropriate.
• Monitor patient progress through structured assessments, clinical observations, functional measures, and outcome indicators.
• Review and adjust treatment plans according to clinical progress and changing needs.
• Document assessments, treatment sessions, clinical findings, interventions, progress, goals, and follow-up plans accurately.
• Maintain timely and comprehensive clinical records in accordance with professional standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, speech therapists, psychologists, dietitians, social workers, educators, and other healthcare professionals.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and contribute occupational therapy expertise to patient-care planning.
• Communicate clinical findings, recommendations, and progress clearly to patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare teams.
• Identify patients requiring additional medical, psychological, social, environmental, or specialist intervention.
• Coordinate referrals to appropriate professionals when needs fall outside the occupational therapist's scope.
• Identify safety concerns, functional risks, falls risks, cognitive concerns, and other issues requiring escalation.
• Follow established patient-safety, safeguarding, infection-control, and clinical-escalation procedures.
• Support development of individualized strategies for patients with complex functional needs.
• Recommend and support the use of adaptive technology, communication tools, mobility aids, and assistive technologies where appropriate.
• Develop therapy resources, educational materials, home programs, activity plans, and clinical reference materials.
• Deliver caregiver education, patient workshops, group programs, and professional training where appropriate.
• Support early-intervention, rehabilitation, disability, developmental, and preventive-health programs.
• Review relevant clinical guidelines, research, and scientific literature to maintain evidence-based practice.
• Apply current evidence and professional standards to assessment and intervention decisions.
• Participate in clinical audits, service evaluations, outcomes monitoring, and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Establish and monitor appropriate clinical outcome measures and therapy-performance indicators.
• Analyze treatment outcomes, patient feedback, referral patterns, and service data.
• Identify opportunities to improve clinical pathways, rehabilitation programs, patient engagement, and service accessibility.
• Contribute to the development and review of clinical protocols, SOPs, assessment pathways, and occupational therapy standards.
• Support telehealth and remote occupational therapy services where clinically appropriate and permitted.
• Ensure remote services maintain appropriate clinical, privacy, documentation, safeguarding, and emergency-escalation standards.
• Mentor junior occupational therapists, therapy assistants, interns, and other relevant team members.
• Provide clinical guidance and case consultation within appropriate professional and supervisory frameworks.
• Support peer review, clinical case discussions, professional education, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Maintain appropriate professional registration, continuing education, and clinical competency.
• Build effective relationships with patients, families, healthcare providers, schools, employers, community organizations, and referral partners.
• Support awareness programs related to independence, disability, rehabilitation, accessibility, and participation.
• Prepare regular reports covering clinical activity, caseloads, outcomes, therapy performance, referrals, and service quality.
• Provide management with recommendations based on clinical outcomes, patient feedback, service trends, and emerging rehabilitation needs.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should have strong experience in occupational therapy, rehabilitation, physical rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, developmental therapy, functional assessment, disability services, or related clinical services, preferably within hospitals, rehabilitation centers, clinics, schools, healthcare organizations, or multidisciplinary care environments.

The candidate should demonstrate:

• Relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in Occupational Therapy.
• Appropriate professional registration, licensing, or certification required for the relevant jurisdiction.
• Proven experience conducting comprehensive occupational therapy assessments.
• Strong understanding of occupational performance, activities of daily living, rehabilitation, and functional independence.
• Experience developing individualized treatment plans and measurable clinical goals.
• Strong knowledge of evidence-based occupational therapy interventions.
• Experience supporting patients with physical, neurological, developmental, cognitive, sensory, or functional needs.
• Strong clinical reasoning and treatment-planning capabilities.
