About the Role

The Senior Physiotherapy Equipment Calibration Specialist is responsible for providing remote technical oversight, calibration documentation review, equipment performance analysis, and quality assurance support for devices used in physiotherapy and rehabilitation services. The role focuses on reviewing calibration certificates, equipment verification records, maintenance histories, technical specifications, and performance data to support the accuracy, safety, and reliability of rehabilitation equipment.

Working with physiotherapists, biomedical engineers, medical equipment suppliers, healthcare facilities, and technical service providers, the specialist helps monitor equipment compliance, identify performance concerns, and improve calibration management processes. This position is fully remote and does not involve physically calibrating, repairing, installing, or operating equipment on patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review calibration certificates and verification records for physiotherapy and rehabilitation equipment.
  • Assess equipment performance documentation against manufacturer specifications, recognised technical standards, and institutional acceptance criteria.
  • Review records for therapeutic ultrasound devices, electrical stimulation units, TENS equipment, interferential therapy systems, and other electrotherapy devices.
  • Evaluate calibration and verification documentation for continuous passive motion machines, traction systems, rehabilitation treadmills, and exercise assessment equipment.
  • Review performance records for dynamometers, goniometers, force measurement devices, balance assessment systems, and other rehabilitation measurement instruments.
  • Verify the completeness, validity, traceability, and accuracy of calibration documentation.
  • Monitor equipment calibration schedules, expiry dates, maintenance intervals, and outstanding verification requirements.
  • Analyse equipment performance trends and identify recurring deviations, measurement inconsistencies, and potential reliability concerns.
  • Review preventive maintenance reports, corrective maintenance records, equipment service histories, and post-repair verification evidence.
  • Coordinate remotely with biomedical engineers and authorised service providers to investigate equipment-related discrepancies.
  • Assess technical documentation for newly acquired equipment, including installation records, acceptance testing evidence, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain digital equipment registers, calibration trackers, maintenance logs, and technical documentation repositories.
  • Develop standardised calibration review checklists, equipment verification procedures, and quality assurance templates.
  • Prepare equipment performance reports, calibration status summaries, exception analyses, and management recommendations.
  • Review equipment-related incidents and assess whether documented technical performance issues may have contributed to reported concerns.
  • Support internal audits and external quality assessments by organising calibration records and equipment compliance evidence.
  • Monitor corrective and preventive actions arising from calibration failures, overdue maintenance, and equipment quality findings.
  • Recommend improvements to equipment lifecycle management, calibration scheduling, documentation controls, and service-provider oversight.
  • Provide remote technical guidance to physiotherapy departments on calibration documentation and equipment quality requirements.
  • Coordinate virtual review meetings with rehabilitation teams, biomedical engineering departments, procurement teams, and equipment suppliers.
  • Monitor relevant updates to medical equipment standards, manufacturer guidance, and healthcare quality management requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate records when handling equipment performance data and healthcare operational documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Device Technology, or Quality Management is an advantage.
  • Significant experience in medical equipment calibration, biomedical engineering, rehabilitation technology, equipment quality assurance, or technical service management.
  • Strong understanding of physiotherapy and rehabilitation equipment, including electrotherapy, therapeutic ultrasound, traction, exercise, and mobility assessment devices.
  • Knowledge of calibration principles, measurement accuracy, verification methods, tolerances, and equipment performance specifications.
  • Familiarity with relevant IEC standards, medical device safety requirements, and applicable quality management principles.
  • Experience reviewing calibration certificates, preventive maintenance reports, technical service records, and equipment verification documentation.
  • Understanding of measurement traceability and the importance of calibrated reference instruments.
  • Familiarity with biomedical equipment management systems, asset registers, calibration databases, and maintenance tracking platforms.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and identify deviations from approved equipment performance criteria.
  • Knowledge of equipment lifecycle management, maintenance planning, supplier documentation, and technical acceptance processes.
  • Experience preparing technical reports, quality dashboards, calibration summaries, and corrective action records.
  • Understanding of root-cause analysis, nonconformity management, and corrective and preventive action processes.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication abilities.
  • Ability to coordinate with physiotherapists, biomedical engineers, equipment manufacturers, and authorised service providers.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability, patient safety, and documentation integrity.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
What We Offer
  • A 100% remote working arrangement based in the United Arab Emirates.
  • Opportunities to support rehabilitation equipment reliability and healthcare technical quality programmes.
  • Collaboration with physiotherapy professionals, biomedical engineers, and medical equipment specialists.
  • Opportunities for professional development in calibration management, medical device quality, and rehabilitation technology.
