Role Description The Owner role is a part-time remote position responsible for overseeing the overall direction, operations, and sustainability of No longer active The Royal Library. Day-to-day tasks include defining strategic priorities, managing budgets and resources, and setting goals for collection development and digital presence. The Owner will supervise and coordinate projects, guide standards for cataloging and documentation, and ensure that digital platforms and communication channels align with the organization’s mission. The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with partners, donors, and audiences, monitoring compliance with relevant policies, and making decisions on new initiatives or services. Regular responsibilities include reviewing performance metrics, updating plans and procedures, and supporting a collaborative, inclusive working environment.

Qualifications

Experience in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and decision-making for small cultural or information-focused entities.
Background or strong interest in libraries, archives, cultural heritage, or literature, with familiarity in collection management or curation.
Ability to manage budgets, allocate resources responsibly, and oversee basic financial and administrative processes.
Skill in remote collaboration, stakeholder communication, and partnership development with institutions, donors, and audiences.
Comfort with digital tools and platforms for content management, documentation, and online outreach; experience with basic project management software is beneficial.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity to work independently in a part-time remote setting.
Commitment to inclusive, non-discriminatory practices and ethical handling of information and cultural materials.
Relevant education or equivalent experience in library science, information management, cultural studies, humanities, or a related field is advantageous.
