Role Overview: The registered nurse (RN) provides comprehensive patient care, education, and care transitions within a specialized gastrointestinal unit. They support a holistic approach, focusing on discharge planning for patients with complex GI disorders, including GI bleeding, liver failure, and inflammatory bowel disease.

- Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care and family education
- Implement and evaluate nursing plans within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Practice Model
- Demonstrate leadership through mentoring, committee participation, and quality improvement activities
- Delegate patient care based on skill level and patient acuity
- Support discharge planning for patients with chronic conditions
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Minimum of one year RN experience
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in computer systems and electronic medical records preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid RN license and BLS certification (or equivalent)
