Role Overview: The registered nurse (RN) provides comprehensive care on a specialized gastrointestinal unit, focusing on patients with complex medical GI disorders such as GI bleeding, liver failure, hepatobiliary issues, cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. The RN collaborates with a trained nursing team to deliver patient-centered, holistic care, emphasizing discharge planning and patient education to meet the needs of those with chronic illnesses.

- Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, education, and transitions of care.
- Support professional nursing practices across various settings, adhering to established standards and models.
- Exercise leadership through mentoring, committee participation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Delegate patient care based on skill, experience, and resource availability.
- Possibly drive personal vehicles for role-related duties (if required).
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with at least one year of RN experience.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records; prior experience preferred.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and adapt to unpredictable situations.
- Current RN licensure, BLS certification, and additional state or specialty certifications as required.
